1st Urgency, Emerging, Emergency Art Show.  December 2002

Things went great at the 1st "Urgency, Emerging, Emergency" art show.  Opening night, Thursday December 5th, coincided with the opening of the Art Basel show so there was a big street party all throughout the Design District.  Hundreds of people came through our doors.  We were open till midnight even though the street party went on for a couple more hours.

I want to thank everybody that went to see my work and the work of all the other artists in the gallery.  I was very happy to be part of that group:
Carla Fache, Karyn Scordo, Eduardo Marquez, Richard Boprae, Jorge De Lara, Juvaes Stratton, Patricia Lumer, Ana Borzone and Tony Wynn.  Thanks for filling that place up with the wonderful energy of your work and talent.

I had a great response to my work.  Great feedback.  I experienced a kind of paternal pride from the compliments given to my work.  It felt good to share those images with everyone that saw them.

Tony Wynn, the organizer of this whole event/movement, is really creating a wonderful environment for showcasing emerging artists.  If you live in Miami and you're interested in art, you need to keep in touch with what's going to be happening at his gallery, and if you are an artist yourself, you need to go there and meet him and probably you'll soon be exhibiting your own art.  I really admire someone doing something this big for the arts without having big dollar signs in their eyes.

I will be showing my work once more at the same place, next month, in January, during the Art-Miami Show.  For those who missed out this time, I'll be showing some of the same photos, but there will be some new work as well.  Hope to see you all there.  I'll give out more info as soon as I have it.

Again, thanks to all the people that participated in one way or another in what was my first gallery exhibit.
